Welcome to the Bell Buckle

Many tales have sprung up to explain the origin of Bell Buckle's unusual name since the town was founded in 1856. One story tells of cowbells and buckles being tied to trees near free-flowing water. Another legend holds that Indians used bells and buckles to mark their territory and to drive settlers away. Still another says the settlers carved these symbols on trees to mark fertile pastureland.

Though its population is only around 400, Bell Buckle is a thriving center for tourism. Its Victorian architecture provides an appealing setting for a little town bustling with activity. Visitors and residents can stop in for a MoonPie Sundae with a side of live music at Bell Buckle Cafe or enjoy homemade ice cream while checking out the merchandise at Bluebird Antiques. A yearly highlight in Bell Buckle is the RC Cola and MoonPie Festival. Two lucky attendees are crowned Mr. RC Cola and Miss MoonPie and assist in the cutting of the World's Largest MoonPie.
