Shopping Pioneer

The latest innovation in shopping centers, called "lifestyle centers," began with the 1987 opening of the Shops of Saddle Creek in Germantown. Lifestyle centers provide amenities and ambience that other shopping environments lack. Upscale shops such as Coach, Ann Taylor and the Apple Store border lovely outdoor sitting areas and courtyards. These integrated shopping areas have become immensely popular in the past two decades because of their pleasing atmospheres. Today, there are similar centers all over the country, but Germantown is proud to claim the very first - the Shops of Saddle Creek.

Question:
What were the very first shops in Saddle Creek?

Answer:
A few of the original shops in Saddle Creek were Ann Taylor, Brentano Books, Laura Ashley, Bombay Company, Banana Republic, US Male, Crabtree and Evelyn, The Gap, Sharper Image and Ruby Tuesday. The outbuilding at phase one included three tenants—Victoria’s Secret, Limited and Limited Express—and a mall-type promenade in the middle.
