At 6,643 feet tall, Clingman’s Dome in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park is the highest point in Tennessee. The observation deck at the apex of Clingman’s Dome provides a spectacular view, which extends over an area of more than 100 miles. And, for those determined enough to hike the whole of the Appalachian Trail, Clingman’s dome is the highest point on the 2,144-mile journey.

Trivia Question:
How many states can be seen from the top of Clingman’s Dome?

Answer:
On a clear day, seven states and an expanse of 100 miles can been seen from the top of Clingman’s Dome. Due to air pollution and various weather conditions, however, it is more common to see an expanse of 22 miles from the summit.
