| Legendary video store clerk turned Hollywood director Quentin Tarantino grew up in Southern California, but he has hidden Tennessee roots. The director of Reservoir Dogs and Jackie Brown was born on March 27, 1963 to Connie Zastopuphil, a nurse and healthcare executive, and Tony Tarantino, an actor and musician, in Knoxville. Although he spent very little of his early life here, sly references to the Volunteer State are peppered throughout his films.
